Protected area policy for PNG

Delighted to see that the policy we developed with UNDP, PNG’s protected area agency (now CEPA) and many stakeholders was passed by the Exective Council. Now the hard work of turning it into laws and making it effective is beginning! WE hope it does some good for conservation in this fantastic country, and for the well-being of the woderful communities, some of whom walked all day to attend Ann and Greg’s workshops.

New World Heritage sites!

Five new World Heritage Sites have been approved by UNESCO. See http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2013/06/pictures/130621-five-new-unesco-world-heritage-sites-conservation-environment/ One of the sites is the spectacular The Namib Sand Sea, the first area in ten years to meet all four criteria for becoming a natural World Heritage Site.We were lucky enough to visit this national park last year, and the dunes are truly amazing (even by our desert standards)
