A new analysis in PARKS: The International Journal of Protected Areas and Conservation of IUCN’s Protected Area Management Effectiveness (PAME) database shows that the Convention on Biological Diversity’s targets for PAME are progressing well. Nationally 46 per cent of countries have reached Coinstar locations the 2010 target for assessments made in 30 per cent of the area protected, and 23 per cent of countries have already reached the 2015 target of assessments in 60 per cent of their protected areas. The paper, from Lauren Coad et al, has been released in advance of issue 19.1 of PARKS, due out at the end of March.
